Dedicated to sustainability and transparency, the brand prioritizes clean ingredients and eco-conscious packaging, ensuring a positive impact on both skin and the environment.
Behind MANTLE is the story of its founder, Josefin, a Swedish entrepreneur who played a key role in Faction’s early years.

We interviewed Josefin to learn more about her journey and the vision behind MANTLE.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, what’s your connection to Verbier, and how has this unique place influenced you personally and professionally?
My name is Josefin, I am Swedish and came to Verbier to work for Faction. Since then Verbier has a very strong place in my heart and I love coming back. I have dear friends there and my kids love going.
Can you share the story behind Mantle? What inspired you to start the brand, and what was the vision that set you on this journey?
I have my background in tech (working for Faction was a side note) and started Europes largest digital care provider 11 years ago. After leaving I wanted to pursue my passion of innovation and skincare and set out on a new journey to create innovative skincare and a strong brand.
What does the name "Mantle" mean?
The mantle of the skin is it's outer and most protective layer. All of our products strengthen and protect the skin barrier, which is super important for the skin function and the skin health (ie longevity). Looking after the skin barrier is more important in harsh climates such as Sweden or in Verbier.

What were the biggest challenges you faced when starting Mantle?
We launched in the midst of the pandemic, which was super tough and doing marketing just wasn't appropriate in the midst of the crisis. Then things started moving along but we didn't get any glass jars, all the good ones are made in Italy and production was seriously impacted by Covid. Access to capital was low etc. But eventually things picked up and we've had fantastic growth and people really love the brand and the products. I think the dedication to what the vision was kept us going and good people in the team and around me.
How does Mantle stand out from other brands in the same industry?
The dedication to product innovation and excellency paired with protecting the skin barrier. With Scandinavian minimalism in mind and doing things differently we manage to stand out. For example we don't retouch images or subscribe to the anti-aging narrative. People feel empowered by the brand and this is core to us. Our own lab and fantastic talent allows us to make incredible products that keep winning awards and becoming best sellers.
Do you have a favorite product in the Mantle lineup?
At the moment The Rich Cream. Winter skin won't survive without it.

How does sustainability play a role in Mantle’s production and operations?
We try make good choices all around sustainability. For example we use glass when we can, no black plastic, minimal packaging that still protects the product, ship with boats etc etc. I think it's an important part of the company culture.
What has been the most rewarding part of your journey with Mantle?
I love getting to build this with the team. Also to see that it's possible to cut through the noise and build something you love and is truly proud of.
To finish… what’s your favorite place and thing to do in Verbier?
Ski backside in plenty of good safe snow with Beanie and then do lunch at Cabane Mont Fort.
