03.05.2026 Guided tour of the “Présences” exhibition

Guided tour of the exhibition “présences” with Mélanie Hugon-Duc, director of the Musée de Bagnes, accompanied by artist Jean Faravel.
As an artist, sound designer, and filmmaker, Jean Faravel guides visitors from the moment they enter the museum with sounds that suggest the presence of the wolf. In the children’s room, the dynamic is reversed. The invisible wolf is now observed and mapped. Here, the artist presents an audio-visual installation that answers the question: “Wolf, are you there?” The cabin becomes an observatory for these places where the wolf passes through and leaves its mark through place names. Names we grow attached to, that enter common usage, and behind which we still sense this presence. The exhibition “Presences” addresses the subject of the wolf by exploring the centuries-old and contemporary relationships between wolves and humans in the context of Valais, and more broadly in the Alps. Echoing the perception of the residents, farmers, and shepherds of the Alps for whom the presence of the predator—now protected—is “too close,” the museum becomes a home. The wolves have entered it. The blurring of the lines between the domestic and the wild emerges within the familiar spaces of daily life: a living room showcasing the coexistence of humans and wolves over time, a garden where dogs and wolves play with the meaning of evolution, and rooms dedicated to attachment, predation, and transformation. A journey where wolves from bestiaries—taxidermied, captured in thermal imagery, or as plush toys—

07.06.2026 Weaving Life

Weaving workshops with artist Marie Jambers, offering a simple and fun introduction to hand weaving, building connections and working together.
Marie Jambers is an artist and craftsperson originally from Sédun. Her work stems from a deep interest in the home in the broadest sense, exploring – through forms, materials, colours and techniques – the place of textiles in our daily lives. Deeply moved by nature and the cycle of life, she reflects on the passage of time—the time it takes to make things, the time we spend living. Her materials are plant-based, animal-derived or second-hand. Her practice is rooted in local and artisanal traditions, blending ancient and contemporary skills. Through her work, she explores the relationship between the body and objects, the living and space, inviting us to come together.
